MOTION blinds can be connected to IFTTT. Please follow these instructions step-by-step.
If This, Then That.
IFTTT is an automation service that enables you to connect services so that, when something happens with one service, a trigger goes off and an action takes place automatically on the other. For example: when the temperature rises above or drops below a certain preset value, your MOTION blinds will automatically move to a preferred preset position.
MOTION and IFTTT
A so called "Service" is a tool, application, or facility that works with IFTTT. The MOTION Blinds application is one of the many services that works with IFTTT. MOTION can be connected to any other service that works with IFTTT. This opens a world of smart automation options for your blinds.
When something happens on one service, it triggers an action on another. The formulas that you set up with IFTTT to connect triggers and actions between services are so called "Applets". To create applets, you first have to create an account with IFTTT.
Visit the IFTTT website and click on Sign up to create an account. After registration, you are redirected to the basic IFTTT information page. Click on My Applets and choose New Applet. Then click the word This.
Now choose a specific service that you want to trigger.
To provide you with an example, we select the smart "Weather Underground" service that uses the weather based on your location. We setup a trigger action based on temperature.
Complete the trigger fields. Then click on That to connect an action to your trigger:
Now search for the MOTION Blinds service to setup your action:
Now you need to connect with MOTION Blinds. Click on "connect" and sign in with the MOTION Blinds account details that you are using for the MOTION Blinds smartphone application. Once IFTTT is connected to MOTION Blinds you can select one of the following actions:
With the action “Open Blind”, you can open one specific blind. The action “Close Blind” enables you to close one specific blind. With “Open a blind to a certain position” you can set a blind to a preset position.
With the “Activate scene” action, you can activate a scene that you have created in the MOTION Blinds smartphone application. For our example, we choose this action. A drop-down menu shows the scenes that you have created in the MOTION Blinds app.
Finally, you will be asked to review and finish your applet. If you want to, you can enable notifications when the applet runs. Click "Finish" to complete the installation of your applet. Now you can turn the applet "On" or "Off" by pressing the slide button.
To help you getting started with MOTION and IFTTT, we have created a few standard applets that you can start using. These applets can be found on our MOTION Blinds page on IFTTT. Here are some examples:
